Our Board
HELPING HERTS HOMELESS is a charity run entirely by volunteers
All monies raised go directly to helping the homeless in Hertfordshire. Following are some of our key players…
Owain Lister
Chair of Trustees and Property Advisor
Owain retired in 2021 after a 40 year career managing construction projects whilst keeping active in the local community.
Owain joined HHH as a volunteer in 2022 and was subsequently elected as a trustee and chair of the charities board.
He has overseen a period of rapid change within the charity to build on longstanding strengths and looks forward an exciting future helping alleviate homelessness in Hertfordshire.
Ian Chapman
Trustee
Ian has a background in travel, tourism and operations having worked for TUI Travel Group for over 25 years both in the UK and Overseas.
Ian is currently a board director at TUI Destination services and an Ambassador for the Holiday association charity.
Katherine Bridge
Trustee
Katherine has volunteered at the charity for over 20 years, primarily helping with fundraising events. She joined the board in June 2023.
Katherine formally worked in procurement, but more recently ran her own catering company, and currently works as the Food and Menu Chef at Herts Catering Limited.
Elizabeth Poole
Trustee
Having studied at the Royal Academy of Music, Liz spent 18 years as a full time member of the BBC Singers. She now combines a freelance career as a classical singer and teacher.
She has been volunteering for Helping Herts Homeless for over 15 years on the fundraising team, and is delighted to have joined the Trustees in 2023 at this exciting time for the charity.
In her spare time she enjoys cooking, walking and looking after her chickens and allotment in her home of Pirton.
Peter Warren
Honorary Lifetime President
Following 25 years dedicated service to the charity as a trustee and treasurer Peter stepped down from the board in January 2026. In recognition the board has appointed Peter as the charities first Honorary Lifetime President.
Peter has been instrumental in the development of the charity guiding us through the purchase of The Sanctuary building and the change of name from The North Herts Sanctuary to Helping Herts Homeless.
Could this be you?
Vacancy for a new trustee
Peter’s resignation has created a vacancy for a new trustee and we are interested in hearing from you if you would like to get involved with our continuing development.
Previous experience is not necessary but we are particularly looking for people who could help with our social media management and with expanding our fundraising activities.
Please use the Contact Us form if you are interested.
