HELPING HERTS HOMELESS is a charity run entirely by volunteers
All monies raised go directly to helping the homeless in Hertfordshire. Following are some of our key players…
Peter was a research scientist with ICI, and is now retired. He has been a volunteer with the Charity since 2001, and was involved with the development of the services and the purchase of the premises in 2006.
Ray Shakespeare Smith
A teacher for 33 years Ray was a County Councillor and a District Councillors for 16 years. He is a trustee of several local charities and a Supervisor of The Black Squirrel Credit Union.
Ian has a background in travel, tourism and operations having worked for TUI Travel Group for over 25 years both in the UK and Overseas. Ian is currently a board director at TUI Destination services and an Ambassador for the Holiday association charity.
Jaqui is a chartered accountant and has been in practice for many years. She currently advises local businesses and became a trustee in January 2019.
Nicola specialises in strategic communications, social media and copywriting and has worked for more than 15 years in the communications and PR industry. She currently works in the communications team at The What Works Centre for Wellbeing. She also spent four years as a Chair of Governors at her local Hertfordshire village school. She became a trustee in January 2020.
Philip was a solicitor in local government for 37 years including time as Head of Legal Services at North Herts and Solicitor and Secretary to the London Borough of Enfield. He joined the board of trustees in 2018 and became vice chair in 2020.
Grahame was a trustee from 2014 to December 2019. He has a background in sales and marketing in the property sector and over twenty years in executive recruitment. He recently retired from being a driving instructor based in Hitchin.
Elizabeth has recently graduated in Law with French Law. She joined the charity as Company Secretary in January 2019.
